NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and critically injured a man crossing a street in Brooklyn on Thursday night.
Police said the 44-year-old victim was hit by a dark-colored sedan as he crossed Fourth Avenue at Bergen Street in Boerum Hill just before 9 p.m.
The sedan’s driver kept going and left the man lying on the pavement, according to police.
The victim was rushed to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
One witness told the Daily News that the driver sped away towards the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
Citizen App video shows police investigating at the intersection.
No arrests had been reported as of Friday.
Allison, who lives nearby, said speeding is a problem in the area.
“People are always driving down Fourth Avenue lickety-split, especially coming into the turns. It’s terrible. It’s very unsafe,” she said.
