The suspects began to punch and kick the victim before stealing his backpack then fleeing to the rear of the location onto River Avenue and then eastbound on McClellan Street.

The victim sustained bruising and pain to his face and body but refused medical attention at the scene.

The stolen property included a camouflage backpack containing approximately $100,000 and personal identification cards and documents, the NYPD said.

The victim was a Bronx construction worker who was carrying the large sum of cash after having recently cashed workman’s compensation settlement check, the Daily News reports.

According to the report, the victim flashed his cash during a purchase inside a local bodega before the attack.
