
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pedestrian died nearly a month after he was struck by a box truck while crossing a Queens street, authorities said Thursday.
At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Friday, May 19, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck on Hook Creek Boulevard in the vicinity of 135th Road in Rosedale.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 41-year-old man lying on the roadway with trauma to the body.
EMS responded to the location and transported the man to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he died on Sunday, June 11.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2018 Isuzu box truck, operated by a 61-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Hook Creek Boulevard, approaching 135th Road, when the vehicle struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross Hook Creek Boulevard.
The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and was not injured.
There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The victim's name hasn't been released pending proper family notification.
