
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A suspect in custody for a domestic incident was found dead inside a Manhattan holding cell, police said Sunday.
The 38-year-old man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive around 2 p.m. Saturday in the Midtown South Precinct stationhouse lockup on West 35th Street near Ninth Avenue.
He was rushed to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Sources told the Daily News that the man had been busted for a domestic violence-related assault.
Police have not released the suspect's name, and the city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is investigating the death.
