Man found dead at trail inside Bronx park: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD launched an investigation after a man was found dead at a trail inside of a Bronx park on Wednesday, authorities said.

Just before 4 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside of Van Cortlandt Park, on the John Muir Trail in the vicinity of the Henry Hudson Parkway and the Mosholu Parkway Extension in the Van Cortlandt Park neighborhood.

Upon arrival, police discovered an unconscious and unresponsive 27-year-old man lying face up near a stream.

He was clothed with no obvious signs of trauma.

EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is pending.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
