Man found dead with knife in chest near Brooklyn Christmas tree

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was found dead with a knife in his chest near a Christmas tree in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call just before 10:45 p.m. found the 38-year-old man lying on the ground on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 60th Street in Sunset Park.

The man had a “knife lodged in his chest,” police said.

EMS transported him to NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

His name has been withheld, pending the notification of his family.

Police said it’s unclear at this point if the man was the victim of a crime or if the wound was self-inflicted.

The city medical examiner will determine what killed him as police continue their investigation.
