NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man in a wheelchair was placed in a chokehold in broad daylight on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue this week by a robber who stole his cellphone and threatened bystanders, police said.

The NYPD released images of the suspect Friday, two days after Wednesday's attack across the street from Trump Tower in Midtown.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was in a wheelchair at W. 57th Street and Fifth Avenue when the fiend came up and put him in a chokehold in front of passersby.

When Good Samaritans tried to intervene, the assailant whipped out a knife and menaced them with it, police said.

The suspect then snatched the victim’s cellphone and fled, according to police.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
