
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One man was killed and another man wounded in a shooting in the lobby of a public housing building in the East Village on Thursday evening, police said.
Gunfire erupted just after 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of NYCHA's Pedro Albizu Campos Plaza at East 12th Street and Avenue C.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 24-year-old man was hit in the left leg as the pair exited an elevator, police said.
Both men were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
The 21-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition and later died of his injuries. He has not been identified.
The 24-year-old was in stable condition, according to police.
A gunman wearing a gray sweatshirt and a blue hat fled the shooting scene on foot, police said.
No arrests had been reported as of Friday as the investigation continued.
