NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a man and woman following an attack inside a subway station on the Upper West Side on Wednesday, authorities said.
The assault happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the 72nd Street station when a 65-year-old man exited a northbound 1 train and was walking on the platform and was approached him from behind by the suspect who then punched him in the back, the NYPD said.

The victim turned around to confront the suspect, who then punched the victim in the face, officials said.
The suspect, who was in the company of an unknown woman, then boarded a northbound 2 train when it arrived, cops said.
The victim followed the the couple onto the northbound 2 train in a separate car, where all three exited at the West 110 Street and Central Park North station.
The victim attempted to follow the couple, who were last observed walking eastbound on West 110th Street.
Authorities said the victim sustained bruising to the face but refused medical attention upon reporting the incident to police.
The suspect being sought for questioning is described as approximately 25-years-old, 5'9" tall, 165 pounds, with a light complexion, medium build and long, black hair placed in a bun. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball hat, a white t-shirt, black shorts and black sneakers.
The woman who accompanied the suspect is described as approximately 25-years-old, with a light complexion, thin build and long, brown hair. She was last seen wearing a red tank top, black shorts, black sneakers and pushing a white suitcase.
