NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 9-year-old Miami girl visiting New York City with her mom was punched in the face near Central Park on Monday, police said.

The incident happened around 11:20 a.m. at the corner of Central Park South and Grand Army Plaza when the suspect, 27-year-old Raheem Ramsarran, allegedly punched the girl on the left side of her face, authorities said.
Witnesses called the police after they saw the unprovoked attack.
The young victim was treated at the scene for pain on the left side of her head and her mom declined an offer for her daughter to receive additional medical attention.
The names of both mom and daughter were not released.
About 15 minutes after the assault, Ramsarran was caught at 30 Central Park South. He was taken into custody at the Midtown North precinct.
As of Monday afternoon, the motive for the assault remains unclear.
