NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was pushed down a staircase and beaten for his wallet at the Times Square subway station Wednesday, police said as they released an image Thursday of the suspected robber.
The 41-year-old victim was walking down the stairs near the entrance at W. 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue around 3:45 a.m. when the stranger shoved and kicked him down the stairwell, according to police.
The assailant then kicked and punched the victim multiple times in the face and body before grabbing his wallet.
He fled the station and was last seen headed southbound on Seventh Avenue towards W. 41st Street, police said.

EMS responded to the scene and treated the victim for what police described as minor injuries.
The brutal robbery came less than three hours after a 63-year-old man was pummeled with an expandable baton in an unprovoked attack at the Grand Central subway station around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim in that assault was unable to escape his attacker and was beaten in the head with the baton near a staircase leading to the exit, police said.
