NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was stabbed in Hell's Kitchen by a group of young men hurling anti-gay insults in Hell's Kitchen on Wednesday night, police said.
The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the unprovoked attack around 11:30 p.m. at West 43rd Street and 10th Avenue.
The victim, described as a 44-year-old Hispanic man, was approached by a group of seven males—either in their teens or 20s—who made homophobic remarks to him, police said.

As they were menacing the man, someone in the group stabbed him once in the left leg, according to police.
The victim was transported to Mount Sinai West in stable condition.
"As a member of the community, this is so upsetting," Councilmember Erik Bottcher told 1010 WINS.
"We've come so far as an LGBTQ community," Bottcher said. "In the last 20 years, we've come a long way legislatively and in terms of acceptance in many ways. But in recent years, there's been backsliding."
Police were canvassing for surveillance video Thursday morning as the investigation continued. No arrests have been reported.
