Man robs Brooklyn discount store, punches employee who tries to stop him

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a man who stole items from a Brooklyn discount store and punched an employee who tried to stop him on Wednesday.

Around 7 p.m., the thief entered Double Discount Super Value Stores at 937 Broadway in Bushwick and grabbed merchandise without paying, authorities said.

The suspect then punched a 28-year-old employee in the face who was trying to stop him from leaving, according to officials.

The man fled the scene on foot towards Melrose Street. Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene for a minor injury.
