NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was slashed by a stranger wielding a box cutter in an unprovoked attack in Union Square on Monday, police said.
The NYPD release an image Tuesday of the suspect in the broad-daylight assault.
The 36-year-old victim was in the park, across from 19 Union Square West, around 9:30 a.m. when the slasher pounced.
The victim was slashed across the back with the box cutter, police said.
He was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The slasher fled eastbound on E. 16th Street. He was still being sought Tuesday, police said.
