NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released surveillance footage Wednesday of a man wanted in an attempted cell phone robbery inside of an Upper Manhattan subway station last month.
It was reported to police that on Friday, May 26, at approximately 2:20 p.m., inside of the West 181st Street station in Hudson Heights.
According to police, a 27-year-old woman was going through the turnstile for the A train platform when the suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her right arm.
The suspect then attempted to forcibly take the victim's cellphone from her hand, and a brief struggle ensued, officials said.
During the course of the struggle, the victim fell to the ground, but she was able to retain possession of her cellphone.
The suspect then fled the station heading topside from the southeast exit of the station.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her right arm and knees, but refused medical attention.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
