Pedro Cintron, 55, was found lifeless on McKibbin Street just before 8 a.m., sources told PIX 11. He was then taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:36 a.m. A firearm was found at the scene.

A manhunt had been underway for Cintron since the shooting at a Ridgewood apartment complex at 66-17 Fresh Pond Rd. on Monday morning, which killed 51-year-old Migdalia Ortega and critically injured a 48-year-old female neighbor.

At around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to a 911 complaint of shots fired and found two females with gunshot wounds. The first, Ortega, an NYPD civilian worker, was found with a gunshot wound to the head, while the other was found with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and body.

Both were taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.

Police said Ortega, who worked for the NYPD's Information Technology Bureau, was later pronounced dead. The second victim remained in critical but stable condition.

A preliminary investigation indicated the shooting began as a domestic incident between Ortega and Cintron on the third floor of the apartment.

During the dispute, the second floor neighbor went to check on the woman when she was then shot and fled back to her apartment. Cintron then followed her and continued shooting.

Cintron then fled the scene, police said.

A motive remained unknown, but police said there were known previous domestic violence reports.
