Scooter rider assaults man, 77, in suspected anti-Jewish hate crime in Williamsburg

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police are searching for a scooter-riding suspect in an attack on a 77-year-old Jewish man in Williamsburg this week that's being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force released images Tuesday of the suspect in Monday evening's assault at Broadway and Rutledge Street.

The victim was standing in front of a restaurant when the other man threw a sharp object at him, striking him in the face, police said.

The suspect also hurled anti-Jewish insults at the victim during the attack, according to police.

The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene. Video shows him riding a scooter in the area around the time of the attack.
