NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for three people after a man was stabbed in the head on an East Village street over the weekend.

The NYPD released images Tuesday of the trio in Saturday morning’s assault across from Tompkins Square Park.

The 32-year-old victim was in front of an apartment building on Avenue A, between E. 9th Street and St. Marks Place, just after 10 a.m. when a group of people approached him.

One person in the group started an argument with the man. As the dispute turned physical, that person stabbed him in the head and body, police said.

It’s unclear who in the group is the suspected stabber.

The attacker fled northbound on foot up Avenue A, police said.

The victim was transported to Weill Cornell Medical Center. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

The assault came three days after a 49-year-old man was stabbed in the head at Tompkins Square Park. The victim was knifed near Avenue B and Seventh Avenue just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and was expected to survive.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
