NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A stray bullet flew through a van window and struck a man in the chest as he drove in Brooklyn on Wednesday, police said as they searched for the suspected shooter, who was captured on camera.
Images released by the NYPD on Thursday show the suspect at the Crown Heights–Utica Avenue station, about a block away from the shooting scene.
The 55-year-old victim was driving a work van northbound on Rochester Avenue in Crown Heights just before 4 p.m. when a bullet whizzed through the driver’s side window at the intersection of Eastern Parkway.
The bullet struck the driver in his upper chest, police said.

It appears the victim was able to maintain control of the vehicle after being shot, as video from the scene shows police investigating by his parked van.
He was transported in stable condition to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.

Investigators believe the gunman was shooting at a group of males in the area when a round struck the van.
No other injuries were reported.
The gunman, who is believed to be in his 20s, fled on foot and was last seen at the nearby subway station.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
