Four-month-old Cairo Sanchez-Dixon was pronounced dead at NYU Langone Medical Center on Monday morning. Police said she’d been taken there by family unresponsive and with trauma to her head.

Suspecting abuse, hospital staff notified police, who responded to the hospital that morning.

An investigation led investigators to believe the girl was abused at the family's apartment on Madison Street in the Vladeck Houses.

Police believe the girl suffered the injuries at the hands of her father, 34-year-old Ceferino Sanchez, who was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

He was charged with murder, manslaughter, assault and reckless assault on a child.

Police said there's no history of domestic incidents at the family's home.
