"13 employees attached to various Israeli government ministries have tested positive for the virus, including the Consul General, Ambassador Asaf Zamir" Milner said in a tweet.

Milner said those infected are experiencing non-serious symptoms and "are in good condition."

He added that employees would work partially from home as a result of the outbreak.

The Jerusalem Post reported that consulate staff will work in pods starting on Monday, and those who are not feeling well are instructed to stay home.

"The consulate extends its thanks to all those who have wished our staff a speedy recovery, and we wish all of our American friends a very happy holiday season."
