NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A mother and her two young daughters were killed in a Brooklyn apartment fire on Friday morning, police and fire officials said.
The fire broke out in a four-story building at 587 Gates Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant shortly after 5 a.m., according to the FDNY.
The 40-year-old mom and her two daughters, 10 and 8 years old, were found in a bedroom by firefighters, who tried to resuscitate them before they were rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in critical condition.
All three of them succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, the FDNY said.

Their identities have been withheld pending the notification of their family.
The FDNY fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire, which was brought under control around 5:45 a.m.
Mayor Eric Adams arrived at the scene around 9:15 a.m. He was seen speaking with FDNY officials.
FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh was also there earlier in the morning and spoke with reporters.
"There was heavy smoke and fire on arrival," Kavanagh said. "So even though it's under investigation, what that may mean was the fire was going for some time. We were here in three minutes. But the nature of the injuries and of the conditions when the firefighters arrived was very advanced."
"This is an incredible tragedy for this neighborhood, for this family," the commissioner said.
