The 52-year-old bus driver pulled up around 11 a.m. to a bus stop on West 133rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue when he noticed two passengers attempting to get off the bus through a closed rear door, according to the source.
The duo eventually made their way to the front of the bus to exit but one of the men was upset and asked the driver why he didn’t open the rear door, sources told the Post.
The confrontation escalated when the man who was upset spit on the driver then pulled out a knife from his waistband and slashed him twice on his left forearm. He then allegedly threatened to go get his gun.
According to the Post, the suspect told the driver “I live in these projects,” before fleeing the scene. The driver was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as being roughly 5-foot-8, in his early 30s, with a missing tooth. He was seen wearing a black leather jacket, multicolored hoodie, black sweats and black sneakers during the attack.
