NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An MTA worker was punched in the face at the Times Square subway station on Wednesday morning, police said.

The on-duty platform supervisor was attacked around 7:40 a.m. at the 42nd Street station.

Police said a woman in her 30s screamed at and harassed the 47-year-old supervisor before punching her in the face on a 1/2/3 platform.

The assailant then fled to the 7-line mezzanine after the attack, police said. No arrests have been reported.

The supervisor was treated by EMS at the scene.

The attack came about 90 minutes before a man was slashed across the face in an unrelated incident at the same Times Square station.

A spike in subway crime has renewed calls for more police and mental health experts in the transit system. Violent crimes in the system are up 82% in the last four weeks.
