NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after almost 30 people were shot across New York City over the weekend, according to officials.
There were 24 separate incidents that resulted in twenty-nine people being shot between Friday and Sunday, the NYPD said Monday.
Two men were shot minutes apart in separate shootings in East New York, authorites said.
A 28-year-old man was shot in the head inside a deli on the corner of Pitkin Avenue and Wyona Street around 4 p.m. Sunday, police said.
About 15 minutes earlier, police received a 911 call of a 27-year-old man that was shot in the torso on the northbound C train platform at Shepherd Avenue, authorites said.
Both victims were also taken to Brookdale Hospital, police said.
Last Monday, Mayor Eric Adams' new anti-gun unit, The Neighborhood Safety Teams began to patrol and target the city's most violent areas.
