NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 36-year-old Morristown man convicted of kidnapping and groping a man was sentenced to 69 years in prison, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.
Tyrone Ellison met the victim in Newark on Feb. 13, 2021 and offered him a place to stay. That night, the man awoke to Ellison groping him.
When the victim tried to get Ellison to stop, Ellison pulled a handgun on him and refused to let him access his home. He held the victim there for most of the next day, continuing to molest him and beating the victim when he tried to get Ellison to stop.
The victim eventually managed to send a message to his mother and escape into her waiting car.
They then went to police to report the incident.
During the investigation into Ellison, officers found Ellison was in possession of methamphetamine, which he was also convicted for.
Ellison was convicted of kidnapping, aggravated criminal sexual contact, assault and drug possession in November. He was exonerated of charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
