Queens man found beaten to death was killed over parking spot

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 58-year-old man found dying a block from his Queens home last year was beaten to death in a fight over a parking spot, police said.

Christopher Hightower was discovered on the ground near his home on 176th Street near Brinkerhoff Avenue in Jamaica around 10:40 a.m. on May 22.

Hightower was intoxicated and suffered from a lacerated spleen and a head injury, sources told the Daily News.

He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and died the next day, police said.

According to the city's medical examiner, Hightower died from blunt force trauma to the head and torso, and his death was deemed a homicide.

Police have reportedly determined that Hightower was beaten amid a dispute over the parking space.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing,
