NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities discovered the decomposing bodies of a man and woman inside a Lower East Side residence Wednesday evening, the NYPD said.
Police responded to 127 Rivington St. to conduct a wellness check at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 56-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive inside of the apartment.
Investigators believe that the 56-year-old son died first, leaving his 91-year-old mom unable to care for herself, sources told the New York Post.
The identifications of the deceased have not yet been released by authorities.
