NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police opened fire on a car in Brooklyn during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

Officers pulled over the vehicle, which had several men inside, around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Rockaway Parkway and Shore Parkway in Canarsie on suspicion that the car was involved in a prior shooting.

Police fired multiple shots. The NYPD said it's unclear whether anyone in the vehicle fired a gun.

Authorities are also unsure whether any of the men inside were hit, as the car drove away after police started shooting.

The NYPD reported that “officers and detectives” suffered leg injuries, though not from gunshot wounds.
