Marc Haynes, 34, is facing grand larceny charges in Manhattan Supreme Court for using PS 267 funds to pay off credit card bills for luxury vacations to the Caribbean and purchases at high-end stores like Fendi and Pottery Barn.

In 2016, Haynes was convicted of the same crime for stealing from his employer.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg believes $23,838 of the money Haynes allegedly stole from PS 267 went toward the $51,247 in restitution payments he was ordered to make to compensate the publisher he worked for.

“Marc Haynes is accused of using his own child’s elementary school PTA to bankroll luxury vacations, shopping sprees and even to pay court-ordered restitution from a prior conviction for stealing from his former employer,” said Bragg. “I thank the diligent PTA members who uncovered these thefts and reported them to my office. As we see far too often, no organization, even one dedicated to the children of our city, is immune to insider theft and fraud.”

Haynes served as co-treasurer for the Upper East Side school from 2020 to 2021.

During that time, Haynes made 17 unauthorized payments totaling $185,717 to his personal J.P. Morgan Chase credit card using a PTA account, prosecutors believe.

The illicit payments were discovered by one of the parents who replaced Haynes as co-treasurer on the PTA board when his term ended in October 2021.

He resigned his new role as co-president of the board due to the revelation.

If found guilty, Haynes could face up to 15 years in prison.
