SoHo shop employee, 72, pistol-whipped during robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 72-year-old employee was pistol-whipped during a robbery at a SoHo electronics store by two men who appear to have posed as FedEx workers, police said Monday.

The NYPD released surveillance video of two suspects—including one in a "FedEx" hoodie—who they're after in Friday's robbery inside a shop at Canal and Mercer streets.

The thieving duo pulled a gun on the employee around 7:30 a.m. and struck him on the back of the head with a firearm, police said.

Surveillance video shows the pair holding a gun to the victim in a back office of the business.

The crooks stole $1,500 from his wallet and tried to gain access to a safe but were unable to before they fled the store.

The victim was treated at the scene by EMS, police said.
