Suspect sought in violent attempted robbery attack on LES street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a suspect wanted in an attempted robbery attack that occurred on the Lower East Side in April, authorities said Sunday.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, April 26, a 34-year-old man was walking in front of 49 Essex St. when he was approached by the suspect from behind, officials said.

The suspect punched the victim in the back of the head and attempted to remove his bag unsuccessfully, police said.

The suspect was last seen entering the Delancey Street subway station.

EMS treated the victim for minor injuries.

Police released a photo of the suspect. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black shirt underneath, black pants and black shoes.
