
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating after a teen changing a tire was fatally struck by a vehicle in Queens on Sunday, officials said.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a person struck by a vehicle at Hoyt Avenue N and 29th Street in Astoria.

Preliminary investigation determined that an 18-year-old man was changing the tire to his vehicle when he was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox which was traveling northbound on Hoyt Avenue.
EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene, authorities said.
The 29-year-old male operator of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
