SUV T-bones NYPD car as it drives through red light responding to burglary

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An SUV slammed into the side of an NYPD squad car as the police vehicle drove through a red light with its lights and siren on Thursday, according to officials.

The white SUV, which had a green light, T-boned the cop car around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and West 37th Street, police said.

The officers were responding to a burglary at a restaurant on West 42nd Street.

The SUV driver, a man in his 60s, was hospitalized alongside the two officers riding in the police car, according to authorities.

One of the officers hurt a shoulder, the other hurt a knee and the driver complained of pain and was admitted for evaluation.

Police have not yet made any arrests for the burglary, and no charges have been filed against the SUV driver.
