NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 15-year-old boy was assaulted and robbed of his cellphone while on the platform of an Upper West Side subway station earlier this month, officials said.

The teen was waiting at the 1,2,3 trains platform in the 72nd Street subway station on Oct. 6 around 4:30 p.m. when he was attacked, police said.

A man came up to the victim and punched him in the face and then began punching and kicking him more once he fell to the ground, according to cops.

After beating up the teen, the suspect stole his iPhone 11 and got onto a northbound 1 train. He was last seen exiting the train at the 137th Street station in Harlem, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Cornell Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
