NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old boy was caught with a loaded gun and a knife at a Queens high school Monday morning, authorities said.
According to officials, the dean stopped the student following a report of a prior slashing incident at Long Island City High School in Long Island City, in which the teen was the suspected attacker.
The student was detained by the dean at around 8:15 a.m. when he gave up the knife, police said. His backpack was then inspected and the loaded gun was recovered.
The gun recovered was a 9mm, sources told 1010 WINS.
The teen was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, and obstruction of governmental administration for allegedly pushing a school safety officer who was trying to detain him.
Last week, another teen was arrested after he was caught with a loaded gun in a Brooklyn high school.
Two other teens have also been arrested this month for bringing a loaded gun into a Bronx and Queens high school in separate incidents, according to the NYPD.
