NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An umbrella-wielding man threatened a 95-year-old woman while demanding her dog on a Brooklyn sidewalk this week, but the victim escaped with her pet unharmed, police said Wednesday.
The NYPD released surveillance video showing the suspect in Monday’s attempted dognapping at Dahill Road and 24th Avenue in Mapleton.
The woman was standing outside her house with her dog at 2 p.m. when the man came up and demanded the pooch while threatening her with a long umbrella, police said.
The woman was able to flee to safety with her dog. Both were unharmed.
The man fled on 24th Avenue and was last seen headed towards McDonald Avenue, according to police.
