According to police, four males entered Puffy's Smoke Shop at 177 3rd Avenue in Gramercy around 9:30 p.m. and approached the 23-year-old worker behind the counter.

The individuals approached the counter to ask about making a purchase, but after a verbal argument with the employee.

The group moved behind the counter and started to remove merchandise, which led to a physical altercation with the male employee and a 25-year-old female employee who was also working behind the counter, police said.

The males forcibly removed store merchandise worth a total value of $1,800 and fled the location to parts unknown.

Both employees sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

Police said the males are approximately in their late teens to early 20s and have slim builds.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
