According to the police, the three suspects approached the 31-year-old man around 8:30 a.m. as he entered the van from the front passenger's side door, which was parked across from 92-16 76 St., and beat him with a metal pipe.
One of the suspects then entered the driver’s seat and attempted to flee with the vehicle, and ran over the 62-year-old woman's foot, according to police.
Following a brief scuffle, the would-be thieves abandoned their attempt to steal the car and fled on foot to parts unknown.
Both victims were taken to Jamaica Hospital for their injuries in stable condition.
Police said the suspects are described as two women and a man, all in their 20s and each having a thin build. Cops also released images and video of the trio.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
