The NYPD released the video as they search for the suspect, who’s believed to be behind another robbery days earlier in which a victim was slashed.

The 61-year-old man was arriving back at his apartment near Jerome Avenue and Buchanan Place in the University Heights section around 1:50 a.m. last Tuesday when a man came up from behind and started rummaging through his pockets, police said and video shows.

The victim was able to keep ahold of his wallet, but he was sent crashing to the ground head first during the struggle.

Video shows the victim falling as he fights off the would-be thief, who ultimately fled empty-handed down Jerome Avenue.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and knee but didn't require medical attention.

Just five days earlier, on the morning of June 16, police believe the same suspect and an accomplice robbed and slashed a 37-year-old man about a block away at Jerome Avenue and E. 183rd Street.

The duo demanded money from the victim before slashing him in the face and arm. They then robbed him of his cellphone and took off, police said.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
