VIDEO: Man, 79, punched to ground in random attack at Queens subway station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man punched a 79-year-old man to the ground as he walked past him at a subway station in Queens over the weekend, police said.

The NYPD released video Wednesday showing Saturday afternoon’s attack at the Junction Boulevard station in Elmhurst.

The victim was standing in the mezzanine of the 7-line station when the man walked past, then turned back and punched him in the head in an unprovoked assault, police said.

The force of the blow caused the victim to fall backwards and hit a MetroCard machine. Video shows him lying on the ground next to the machine.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition with a head laceration.

Police believe the suspect is about 20 years old.
