The attempted robbery happened around 12 p.m. Saturday on E. 89th Street, just east of Fifth Avenue and right across the street from the famed art museum on the Upper East Side.

Video from the NYPD shows the two crooks riding the scooter westbound down the sidewalk on E. 89th Street. As they pass the 28-year-old woman and her friend, one of them reaches out and tries to grab her necklace, the video shows.

The woman resists and falls to the ground, according to the video, which shows her struggling to get back up as the would-be thief again tries to snatch the chain.

The two suspects, believed to be in their 20s, fled the area on the moped and were last seen headed southbound on Fifth Avenue, police said.

The woman suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
