VIDEO: Shoplifter punches worker, 69, at Queens bodega

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 69-year-old Queens bodega worker was punched in the face after he tried to stop a shoplifter last month, police said Monday as they released video of the attack.

Police said it happened on Aug. 8 around 11 a.m. at a bodega on 21st Street and 40th Avenue.

The shoplifter tried to leave the store with items when the victim tried to intercept him, at which point the man slugged the 69-year-old, with video showing the assault that knocked him to the ground.

EMS responded and transported the victim to Astoria General Hospital in stable condition.

Cops said the suspect fled to parts unknown.
