NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen boy was attacked and robbed by five thieves as he walked down a Bronx street, police said Wednesday as they searched for the suspects.

The NYPD released surveillance video showing the assault near East Gun Hill Road and Bronxwood Avenue in Williamsbridge on the morning of March 5.

Police said the 17-year-old victim was walking just after 1 a.m. when he was surrounded by three males who demanded his money and started punching him in the face.

The thieves stole the victim’s backpack and were joined by two more males before they fled westbound down East Gun Hill Road, according to police.

The victim did not require medical attention at the scene.

Police said his backpack contained a cellphone, headphones and $400 cash, all with a value of about $1,520.
