VIDEO: Worker shot, robbed of $8K chain while unloading truck in E. Harlem

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A gun-toting thief shot a worker and stole a $8,000 chain off his neck in broad daylight on an East Harlem street this week, police said Tuesday.

The 55-year-old victim was unloading a work truck on East 129th Street, near Madison Avenue, around 1:30 p.m. Monday when the crook ran up with a handgun and tried to yank the chain from his neck.

Video shows a man coming up from behind the worker and pointing a gun at his head as he tries to steal his chain.

During a struggle, the victim attempted to escape and was shot in the left leg by the thief, who snatched the chain and fled, police said.

The suspect was last seen running westbound on East 129th Street and then getting into a black BMW, according to police.

EMS transported the victim to Harlem Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police believe the suspect is about 30 years old.
