Woman, 38, boy, 6, critical after struck by driver loses control of vehicle in Harlem: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman and a 6-year-old boy were critically injured when they were struck by a driver who lost control of his vehicle Monday morning in Harlem, officials said.

Police were called to a vehicle collision at W 145th St. and Malcolm X Blvd. just before 8:30 a.m. where they observed a vehicle that had mounted the sidewalk.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 68-year old man was driving a red 2015 Toyota Camry on W 145th Street when he lost control and mounted the sidewalk, striking a 38-year woman and a 6-year-old boy, authorities said.

The driver remained at the scene and EMS transported the driver and the two pedestrians to Harlem Hospital.

The woman and the child are in critical condition. The driver is in stable but serious condition, according to the NYPD.

An investigation remains ongoing.
