Woman, 61, dies after jumping from building across from Museum of Natural History

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 61-year-old woman was found unresponsive after she jumped to her death from an apartment building on the Upper West Side on Friday, officials said.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was found at around 5:30 a.m. unresponsive in front of the 15-story apartment building on West 77th Street near Central Park West, according to police.

It appeared that the woman jumped from the building, according to investigators said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

The building is across the street from the American Museum of Natural History and part of the Upper West Side-Central Park West Historic District.
