Woman, 61, fatally shot after getting caught in Bronx crossfire

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 61-year-old woman was fatally shot in the Bronx Monday night after getting caught in the crossfire of a dispute on the street, police said.

Gunfire broke out between two groups of people just after 7 p.m. near East 188th Street and Creston Avenue in Fordahm Heights where the woman was alone, authorities said.

The victim was hit in the torso and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

She was later identified as Juana Esperanza Soriano De-Perdomo, of the Bronx.

According to police, she was not an intended target. No other injuries were reported.

No arrests have been and the investigation remains ongoing.

Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.
