NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 70-year-old woman lost a tooth after a purse thief elbowed her in the face during a robbery in the Bronx over the weekend.

The NYPD released an image Monday of the suspect as they continue to search for him in Sunday morning’s mugging in Fordham.

The victim was walking at Bainbridge Avenue and East Kingsbridge Road around 4:45 a.m. Sunday when the man targeted her.

He snatched the woman’s purse and elbowed her in the face, police said.

The force of the blow knocked the woman’s tooth out.

Two good Samaritans chased the suspect down and managed to recover the woman’s purse, according to police.

The suspect fled and was last seen headed up East Kingsbridge Road towards East 192nd Street, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
