NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 83-year-old woman was struck and killed by a pick-up truck while crossing a lower Manhattan street Monday morning, according to authorities said.
Officials said at approximately 9:30 a.m., the victim was crossing Lafayette Street when she was hit by the 35-year-old driver as he was turning left from White Street.
EMS rushed the woman to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
It is unclear who had the right of way, the NYPD said.
The driver remained at the scene and was being questioned by police. It is unknown if he would be charged.
An investigation is ongoing.
